The Word Is Spreading
Last month people came from neighbouring villages, up to 14km away, to see what is happening in Ndalama Village, Nktotakota district. Compact started work there back in September 2022 with bi-monthly visits to educate locals on the difference permaculture can make to their lives and the environment. In February we began a four-month onsite program of training in land preparation, soil management, irrigation, and composting. Not only has the demonstration garden flourished but people have taken the training home to producing their own compost and are investing in permaculture. Currently, irrigating these new plants and trees is a struggle with only a single borehole in the area or many trips to the river. This problem will soon be resolved with the new solar powered borehole planned for August 2023. Until then they must work very hard to keep everything going.

You Helped
It’s been 5 years since Compact applied for its charitable status. Since then, we have steadily applied ourselves to a good work of educating some of the poorest people on the planet. Chuzu has a community Centre that serves over 100 children weekly with a breakfast club, afterschool programs for children and adult literacy. A local church uses the space three times a week for their gatherings and 200 plus homes benefit from the borehole. Meanwhile at Ndalama permaculture is proving a great success which will greatly improve nutrition and fight off sickness. In August the new borehole will bring great relief to the women and children, and you helped do this. Thank you for your generosity.
