9 Parking Spaces!

There was undoubted dismay as the final plans were presented to board members. Yes, everything we had planned and worked towards was visible but why 9 parking spaces for a village in which nobody owns a car! The following conversation revealed that the Dowa District Council require sufficient room on site for trucks to deliver materials safely. Consequently, the architect penciled the space as a “car park”. We are happy to say that this space will be re- evaluated on completion, reducing the parking to 4 spaces for visiting health / educational / spiritual personnel and allocated for community use.

This strengthens our belief in having a Malawian weighted board & management team in Malawi to help explain and work these things out.

International Donations

We have been very pleased at the response from home and abroad which has led to several questions on how best to financially support Compact. Our website allows for PayPal & credit card donations however, those making larger donations may wish to use other methods. Canadian cheques can be sent avoiding the online fees and international wire transfer is also an option. Please call for our bank details. And please remember, support comes in all forms so share our story and website, it means a lot to this work.

Weather

This is the cool time of the year for Malawians (winter) with temperatures averaging 75 degrees during the day falling to the mid 60’s in the evening for those in the Lilongwe area. Between July and September is the best time to start building in order to beat the rainy season which will start in November.
