Seeing is Believing

Ariel view of Chuzu, community facility bottom left

In an ongoing attempt to make the work of Compact visible, we have updated our website, produced monthly newsletters, provided a form of photo essay on Facebook and registered with organizations such as Canada Helps.org. Recently Shawn Dhanda, a Director of Compact in Canada and Malawi, has been working to increase our visibility on Google Business and Maps. Google Business works fine; when typing Compact Resource Foundation, the Canadian office and links come up. Google Maps has been more problematic since it seems unable to attach an address to the village of Chuzu. However, if you are interested in the site, type in Lilongwe and a pin has been placed at the village which you can zoom into. We hope that by pinning each village and attaching it to the Compact search, they will eventually show up automatically. Meanwhile, our picture above is a drone shot taken on October 24th with the beginning of the facility construction on the bottom left.

Helping Hands

Learning how to use a drone

The current visit to Malawi (October 22nd-November 11th) is to meet with local board members, review the work on the ground and collect data on potential new sites. The current site will have its thatched roof started the first week of November and completion is expected by the end of November. With regard to collecting data, we would like to thank Dr. David McCarty of London, Ontario, a cardiologist on a two year placement at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Blantyre, for lending us drone equipment. It has been extremely valuable.

But now, oh God, strengthen my hands.
