Regulatory Obligations

Operating a charity abroad comes with a variety of complicated issues and for many it proves just too difficult. The Government of Canada runs a Charity Education Program to provide guidance, support, and information to help Canadian charities better understand and comply with regulatory obligations. In January 2023, one of our Board members, Jennifer Jones, met with a Charities Commission officer as part of this program. In providing the background information of who we are and what we’re trying to achieve, it was another opportunity for us to see God’s hand at work in how He’s provided direction and opportunity over the last few years. It was also a good occasion to share the reason we do what we do – to share God’s love with others in a very practical way. It was a good meeting, and the Officer was very happy with our level of knowledge and compliance. The rules do get complicated when working overseas, so we are grateful to all our volunteers, employees both in Canada, Malawi and donors worldwide for the work they do and we continue to thank God for His goodness to us.

“You shall freely open your hand to your brother, to your needy and poor in your land” Deuteronomy 15:11

Goodbye and Welcome

It has been a privilege to have Chisomo Faith Kuyenda as a board member and treasurer in Malawi for the past 3 years. Unfortunately for us her promotion to the Governor’s office in Lilongwe is proving very demanding and she felt it best to step down for the time being. We wish her all the best in her new posting. However, we are not left stranded by any means as Gloria Chitsonga steps in to replace her. Gloria has been working in the development & management of contracts for many years, and most recently has been employed at the highest level of Government procurement. We are most grateful for your joining our team.
