New Custodians
After more than five years of working with the people at Chuzu (Dowa district), planning, building, establishing a community supported by clean water, solar power, a toilet block and a compact earth community centre for both child and adult learning and a place for the local church to meet, Compact is moving on. To do this responsibly we have found two partners to continue the work. South East & Central Africa (SECA - Malawi) have assumed responsibility for the maintenance of the structure and Fellowship Relief Committee (FRC - UK) will continue to fund and monitor the pre-school breakfast club, after school club and adult learning. In December members of both partners visited Chuzu to assess the project and on January 15th 2024 the groups signed and took ownership.
Compact is grateful for the work being undertaken which now frees us up to pursue the food security, clean water and nutrition projects in other areas. Ndalama are moving into the second year of permaculture, and we hope to announce our third location very soon.

Old Friends
Support for Compact comes from many different sources, and here is a testimony from an old friend not seen for 45 years and rekindled by Facebook.
“Knowing Kev Jones and his family from my school days, I was eager to learn more about the work of Compact in Malawi, Africa. I felt encouraged to support financially when I could, as it is obvious how the charity is making such a positive impact for these impoverished people frequently hit with climate shocks and other issues that lead to starvation.
Africa is such an important place to me as I have worked with healthcare development mainly in Ethiopia and the Middle East over the past 40 years. I love the works Compact is focusing on in Malawi and look forward to following the charity's development.
I am pleased to be doing something positive in these dark times and feel as a human being it is our duty to illuminate love and light. Keep up your great work Compact, we all need a better tomorrow!
