Strategy Planning
We are always delighted to bring news of progress and developments that your faithful support is making. However, there is so much that goes on behind the scenes and August was a month for some of those activities with both the Canadian and Malawi board members meeting via Zoom. The Canadian board are responsible for overall direction of Compact’s vision and fund raising while the Malawi board, with their extensive local knowledge, focus on the implementation of any given part of a project.
It has always been our intention to eventually hand off completed and sustainable projects and Chuzu is now at that point, having been completed in May 2022 and locals successfully running a variety of programs for 15 months. Our by-laws state that we will pass on completed projects to a Village Committee, local Church, or other likeminded NGO to oversee its maintenance. A contract has been sent for review to a local church group who have 26 other locations in Malawi and are able to continue the funding of welfare programs at Chuzu. All being well, we would hope to conclude this part of the work by December 2023. Meanwhile investigations for our third site are in progress and we will bring updates as soon as we can confirm this.
“Those who suffer belong to us all and if all of us respond, there is hope.”

Water Tower Construction
Mid- August saw the construction of the water tower which will hold two 5,000 lt water reservoirs. The tanks and pipping for the standpipes arrived August 30th and will be located near four dwellings. This may appear to have a hint of favoritism, but it is strategic since being located close to a home provides added security for the system.
Our third site needs your help so consider a donation this month and share the work of Compact with a compassionate friend.
